BEAUTIFIED WITH FUNTO (PROMISED POST)

Heyy people. This post is long over due and was written since January but i just had to wait till i have time to post it.

AN AWESOME TIME @ #BEAUTIFIEDWITHFUNTO
For those of you that follow me on my social media platforms, most especially, my Instagram page would have seen all my ranting about the programme #beautifiedwithfunto and I promised to do a post on it. Here it is, but before I go into the details of the event, let me give a brief introduction of the creative hostess of the event. She’s IbuoyeFunto married to the amazing afro-fusion gospel artiste; gaisebaba. Funto is a beautiful graduate of Covenant University and she studied Accounting. Currently, she works at a beauty outfit and is a motivation to thousands throught her speeches, articles and social media platforms. She also supports the #virgintillmarriage motion and if you know me pretty well, you should know I’m a stickler for that. I had to confess to her at the event that I stalk all her social media platforms. How I got to know of both of them is a story for a future post.
So, to the post of the day, grab a drink and let’s go...
The programme held at an event centre in a cute estate somewhere at Ikeja on the 10th of January, 2014. I should have resumed school but heaven knows I might never forgive myself if I had missed that event. As a ‘this pikin is not fat let me take her there’ that I am, you can be sure my mum made sure she dropped me at the event and watched me make my way in before leaving.
After taking my nervous deep breaths, I walked in and the first person I saw was Funto herself. Don’t worry, pictures will come soon. Her smile is really cute, trust me. So, I walked towards the registration desk, registered and got myself a free gift; a Maybelline baby lips lip balm! Been looking for that for like forever! I bought myself two books; funto’s and the amazing BunmiAlaga’s (story for another day, hehehehhe) and went in to start an event that marked my best New Year gift to myself.
We started with a season of worship and prayer and then sat to hear from Funto. First, she played a video for us on a laptop about the “proverbs 31”woman and I said to myself, ‘omo, Olorun lo nikowaibiyiisha, ori e tip e ju!”, which means, “its God that said you should come here o, you are so smart!”  The video took us on a roller coaster of what it is to be virtuous. It isn’t about the clothes, shoes, bags or hair but about the love of Christ. But like Funto said, my dearies, you can have the best of both worlds o! You can have an amazing relationship with God, the best-est husband, beautiful children, enviable family and still look good, wear Christine Loubittin red bottom shoes, Gucci Bags, Louis Vuitton and all the rest. It’s all about knowing who you are. You are God’s masterpiece and THAT is enough. You are worth more than the Monalisa drawing and more expensive than a Bugattii or Ferrari because you are the child of the Lord Most High, sons and daughters of a king. If you really know you are ehnnnnnn! You will talk, walk, smile and talk differently.

We proceeded to introducing ourselves and what we do. After that, we got talking and I learnt what’s in the paragraph above a lot more. I mean, who says Christians don’t have swag! We’re Saved With Amazing Grace (SWAG). Do you know there are a lot of beautiful gospel artistes whose songs you would dance to, reflect God and you might not even sweat over profusely like when listening to shokilol! Ever tried listening to Mali Music, Gaisebaba, PITA, Kenny Kore, Qadowsh, Harold, TyeTribette, CobhamsAsuquo, Deitrick Haddon, Dakinson, Ogaga, PC, Nathaniel Bassey, Onos, Mike Abdul, TY Bello, and thousands of others, handsefdey pain me!

To cut the long story short, we inspired ourselves some more, had some heartfelt prayers for each other and stepped aside for some item 7. That was really an awesome event! I have a few pictures here thoughmost are in my instagram page: olaniyi_tosin. ╮(╯3╰)╭

On July 18th, 2015, Funto will be holding a conference. Please go to her instagram page @ifunto  for how to register. You’ll learn a whole lot. I promise.
Love you guys.
Till our next post,
Stay Younique...
